Why Locals Love Kedai Siopah

Nestled away in a quiet, tucked-in alley of Jl. Bali No.68 in Madiun, Kedai Siopah offers an authentic culinary journey into Sundanese and Palembang flavors, featuring their celebrated pempek and siomay. The modest setting, reminiscent of a friendly neighborhood home, invites diners to experience true Indonesian comfort food in an intimate and unpretentious atmosphere.

As you step inside, the aroma of simmering fish cakes and fragrant spices instantly whets the appetite. The pempek here is a standout, boasting a delightful chewy texture paired with a savory, tangy cuko sauce—though some patrons find the sauce slightly lighter than usual, it complements the dish beautifully. Their batagor is another highlight, delivering a satisfyingly crispy exterior encasing tender, flavorful fillings that showcase the kitchen’s mastery. The siomay, while modest, carries the traditional taste one would expect from a genuine Sundanese recipe, testament to the origins of the original purveyor who is said to have been a pioneer of siomay in Madiun since the early 2000s.

Patrons frequently praise the warmth and authenticity they feel here. Despite its tucked-away location, the cozy and welcoming dining area creates the feel of enjoying a meal in someone’s house, where the food is lovingly prepared from time-honored recipes. Regular visitors applaud the staff’s genuine friendliness—they serve with both efficiency and kindness, often delighted with unexpected bonuses or discounts, adding a personal touch that elevates the dining experience.

While the shop is closed on Sundays, those who venture through the narrow lane are rewarded with enduring flavors that have captivated locals for over 15 years, making Kedai Siopah a true culinary landmark in Madiun’s vibrant food scene. Whether you’re craving traditional Indonesian pempek, authentically crafted siomay, or crispy batagor, this humble eatery promises a nostalgic yet lively taste of Sundanese and Palembang heritage.

In short, Kedai Siopah is more than just a meal; it’s a heartfelt encounter with tradition, perseverance, and the timeless joy of sharing simple, delicious food in a place that feels like home.

Tempatnya agak susah dicari karena masuk gang. Batagornya enak. Siomaynya biasa aja. Saus kacangnya kurang kental kalo buat aku. Oiya, hari minggu kedai tutup

Pesen soto n siomay disini via gr*bfood. Menurut saya sotonya biasa saja, tp mungkin tergantung selera orang2 kan beda. kelebihannya, Daging sotonya banyak. Siomainya enak, hanya saja bumbu kacangnya kurang kental, kebanyakan air. Semoga kritikan ini bisa membangun :)
